EXHIBITION: The Time Is Now

Visited this exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery and was blown away by the inventiveness and use of colour. I think portraits can be seen as a bit boring, and this was anything but. I was particularly inspired by the collages and use of screenprint at the very beginning, as well as the bold, gold sculptures. These were brave, clever, thoughtful images which I have thought about a great deal since. I plan to experiment a little with collage, especially with faces, to see what that does to how they appear. The fractured nature of the Nathaniel Mary Quinn pieces, and the mixture of media, was compelling.
