Experimenting with cyanotype on fabric adding words with embroidery – these are a mix of stock photos and ones of my family. I want to look at which images work most clearly, and am looking at what these images say to me explicitly as well as the underlying meanings/implications, then overlay with text and words. The image with the embroidery hoop shows the beginning of this. I am really enjoying rendering the light and shade with the thread, and now its finished I am so happy with the effect, it is like an optical illusion – your eyes adjust to the words, and then the image. Although this is just an experiment, I would want to make the sewing on the text much more fine/detailed/responsive to the image than this…
