There is sadness in her eyes in this, despite the fact that she is performing, being feminine. On the newspaper piece, she looks as if she is peering out from behind the type, perhaps imprisoned by it. Pamela recently announced she no longer wears makeup in public and I would like to look more closely at the radicalism of this move.
