EXHIB: Sarah Lucas at Tate Britain

Highlights from Sarah Lucas at the Tate: her reflections on modern culture, body image, portraiture and the use of light are hugely inspiring to me. Her way of taking everyday objects makes us to look at them anew; makes us question their place and value in our lives.

But mostly she is very clever with how she deploys words: recognising and exposing their power, especially in the case of the use of old newspaper articles with sexism and misogyny at their core. These reflect back our society as it is, or has been – forcing us to look at the real impact of the patriarchy, both now and in the past.
